VSO's goals

Following the publication of VSO's strategic plan, Focus for Change in 2004, volunteer placements will form part of a more strategic approach based on thorough ongoing analysis and longer term thinking. This will requires deeper, more dynamic relationships with partner organisations, defined by shared agendas and learning, rather than individual volunteer placements.

At the heart of this programmatic approach is an increased effort, whether by VSO or others, to achieve sustainable change by addressing causes as well as symptoms of development needs. 

Focus for Change puts empowerment, partnership and commitment to learning at the heart of how we work. Our aim is for partner organistions to ultimately have the capabilities and capacity they need to be self-sufficent and no longer require VSO support.
