About our group
The VSO Durham group started up in the 1980s and is still going strong. Many of us are returned volunteers who have worked as far afield as Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Guyana and various African countries. We're now scattered across Co Durham and meet monthly in different members' homes.
We go through active phases during which we organise events, and then quiet periods socialising with kindred spirits. We really enjoy meeting volunteers before and after they go overseas. They tell us fascinating tales and re-kindle our commitment to VSO and the wider social justice movement (and remind us just how many years have passed since some of us did VSO. Where does time go!)
Perhaps the secret of our survival as a group, is that we've got no chiefs because we're all indians! If you're interested or involved with VSO in any way do get in touch with our secretary, Marie Wray. We look forward to meeting you!
