About our group
We plan our programme to publicise the work of VSO and to raise money for VSO. We also raise money to send directly to any local serving volunteer who may need some extra equipment.
We organise a series of street collections and collections outside supermarkets, throughout the year.
Other activities include helping with VSO Information Evenings when asked, giving talks about VSO to local Probus clubs, Women's Institute meetings, church groups and any other group that asks for a speaker.
We also regularly present the opportunity for 'volunteering on retirement' at the retirement courses run regularly by the local College of Technology. These are all excellent methods of publicity for VSO and the speaker is often given a welcome donation for group funds.
