Judith Brodie, director of VSO UK commented on the Budget proposals for Gift Aid:
“VSO welcomes measures introduced by the government to help increase uptake of Gift Aid which is a vital source of income for charities. It is especially welcome to see that charities will not be left in the lurch as the amount of tax that we can reclaim from the government will remain at current levels for the next three years.
“Measures on reforming the audit process for charities will help to reduce the burden on them, and this welcome news for the sector.
“For VSO the additional funds and capacity these measures will generate will allow us to send even more volunteers to tackle poverty and disadvantage in the developing countries where they are needed most. “
